Kiltarlity home to feature on hit BBC show Scotland’s Home of the Year
A home in Kiltarlity is among three from the Highlands and Islands set to feature in the popular Scotland’s Home of the Year programme.
Following a seven-year renovation, former farm steading La Hacienda is now home to Gordon and Sandra, their baby boy Diego and Benjie the Yorkshire Terrier.
Scotland’s Home of the Year judges really do dig Highlands’ Earth House
Designing and carrying out a lot of work by themselves, the family have created their ideal home bringing together Scottish and Spanish influences into the L-shaped design.
The stunning home will be seen being visited and rated by Anna Campbell Jones, Banjo Beale and Danny Campbell, judges on the popular BBC show, in episode five of the current series of Scotland’s Home of the Year , due to be broadcast on Monday, May 19, on BBC One Scotland, from 8.30-9pm.
The Kiltarlity residence will be the only mainland property in the north to feature in the Highlands and Islands episode which is completed by similar visits to two homes on Skye.
Tiny Skye Cabin is a compact, minimalist tin-clad home overlooking Loch Harport which has been home for the past year to Lena and Thor, who designed it to blend into the landscape, maximising the beauty of the surrounding loch views.
And, also on Skye, An Cala Cottage is home to Caroline, Lee and their dog, Nuala.
This traditional cottage was brought back to life on a budget, with the couple incorporating charming charity shop finds with a creative use of colour throughout.
They took inspiration for their interior design from the coastal and mountain views which surround to create a cosy and relaxing home.
Scoring each of the homes on architectural merit, distinctive design and personal style, Anna, Banjo and Danny must choose one of the three homes to represent the Highlands and Islands at the series’ grand finale.
Scotland’s Home of the Year is made by IWC Media (a Banijay UK company) for BBC Scotland.
