Scott Armstrong - visitor numbers are worth shouting about.

Following a report by VisitBritain naming Inverness as one of the most popular UK destinations for holiday visitors, Scott Armstrong, VisitScotland Regional Director, said:

“The fact that this report ranks Inverness as the seventh most popular destination in the UK for holiday visits – accounting for 194,000 individual holiday visits and 86% of all visits to the city - is worth shouting about.

“This demonstrates the strength of the Highland capital’s tourism offering. According to the report, an encouraging 95% of all visitors to Fort William are also coming on holiday visits – that accounts for 98,000 individual visits.

“With exciting developments such as the recently-announced state-of-the-art brewery and visitor attraction proposed for Ness Bank in Inverness and the return of a Highland Military Tattoo at Fort George in September, Inverness is going from strength-to-strength in terms of its sheer breadth of tourism offering.

“Fort William consistently attracts holidaying visitors as there are so many outdoor activities – including walking, skiing, cycling and climbing – literally on the doorstep. And for those who are not outdoor enthusiasts, Fort William is surrounded by stunning scenery that can be enjoyed by everyone.”
