Dornoch entrepreneurs Philip and Simon Thompson launched the fundraiser earlier this month, hoping to raise at least £1.8 million to help build the new Struie Distillery on a site at Dornoch South.

The brothers said in a social media post that the project had been “overfunded in under 24 hours on Crowdcube during Early Access.”

“What an incredible response, we’re absolutely humbled,” they said. “A heartfelt thank you to our amazing community for believing in our vision.”

The brothers run various businesses under the umbrella of Thompson Independent Traders Ltd, including Dornoch Castle Hotel, Dornoch Distillery Company Limited, Thompson Bros Independent Bottling and the new Struie Distillery.

The fundraising campaign is still open and a link to it can be found on the Dornoch Hotel Facebook page.
