Highest number of entries yet for Golspie Rowing Club’s 3 Peaks Challenge

Organisers of last Saturday’s Golspie 3 Peaks Challenge say the number of entries was the highest since the event was first held in 2021.

More than 275 people registered for the challenge, which involves hiking, running, or hiking and biking over three Golspie peaks: Ben Bhraggie, Silver Rock and Ben Horn. There are 10 categories for participants to choose from.

Michael Paisley, Strathnaver, was first across the line in the male hike.

Rachel Paterson, of Golspie Rowing Club, said: “We were blown away by the sheer enthusiasm and joy of the day from all our challenge participants, despite the occasional downpour. The event was possible thanks to support from local organisations and businesses and the community.”

This year’s challenge was a fundraiser to support the rowing club’s participation in the Skiffie Worlds Coastal Rowing Championships which take place at Stranraer from July 6-12.

Ms Paterson added:“Golspie Rowing Club would like to congratulate everyone who took part in the challenge and we thank them for being such an incredible group of people and helping to make our journey to Skiffie Worlds 2025 possible.”

The awards were presented by Golspie Rowing Club committee member Neil Jacobs.
