Good prices at Lairg lamb sale
United Auctions sold 14365 lambs at their first sale of NCCs whilst operating under Scottish Government’s guidance and 2m social distancing, with lambs enjoying the sun on their backs and were shown in good bloom.
10258 wether lambs sold to average £59.29 (+£7.22 on the year) for 884 more sold, selling to a top of £83.50 for TexX from M McDonald, Auchentoul Cottage, Kinbrace.
Hill NCC sold to £81 from A Campbell, Millhouse, Thurso.
Park type NCC sold to £80.50 from A McKay, South Balkeith, Tain.
3837 ewe lambs sold to average £73.04 (+£13.53 on the year) for 360 more sold, selling to a top of £210 for a pen from Dunbeath Farms, Dunbeath and to £200 from Joyce Campbell, Armadale.

After the sale, Joyce Campbell of Armdale wrote on her Facebook page: "Blown away with our trade today at Lairg. Top wethers £74, ewe lambs £200 and averaged £84.77/head.
"Well done to all the mart folk, sellers, buyers and hauliers for adhering to social distancing rules. When lambing ewes in lockdown I never thought I’d be allowed to sell stores and attend.
"As always a grateful thanks to all the bidders and buyers of our lambs. Many of them are repeat customers and I sincerely hope they go on and do well. The United Auctions staff worked extremely hard and I was very impressed with the way the sale was conducted. Thank you all."
