A date has been set for a popular annual fundraising event in Sutherland.

The Marty Mackay Memorial Fund Sponsored Cycle/Walk 2025 will take place on Saturday, April 19.

Organisers say the event will follow the traditional format of a 57-mile cycle from Lairg to Durness or a 15-mile walk from Rhiconich to Durness.

This will be followed by the usual auction and raffle in Durness Village Hall where refreshments will be provided.

The fundraiser is in memory of Marty Mackay of Durness, and benefits cancer charities and other good causes in the north.

The event has been held annually since 2011, with the exception of the Covid years, and has raised a total of £189,311 to date. Last year it raised an amazing £10,642.
