Makes and Bakes is a fundraiser for the Friends, but it is hoped that it will also raise awareness of their work.

The Friends raise money to buy equipment for the Lawson Memorial Hospital and the Cambusavie Unit that the NHS cannot afford. Although located in Golspie, the hospital serves the whole of Sutherland.

A list of medical equipment purchased by the Friends can be found on page 4 of the recipe book.

Hospital staff, other NHS workers, friends of the Friends, and other local people were asked for their favourite recipes.

The spiral bound book is divided into four sections – starters, main courses, puddings and baking.

A spokesperson for the Friends said: “There are some great recipes in the book to tickle the taste buds.”

A small sub-committee of the Friends put it all together, and the book was published by a local printer, the Print Register, Brora.

Priced at £7, it is now available in a number of local shops and will be on sale at Christmas fairs in the area. For more information, ring 07717 081 764 or 07586 505 390.
