First album for north band
Far North pop/rock band Pure Grief, who played their first gig in 2016, released their debut album earlier this month.
The three-piece band comprises singer and guitarist Peter Bacon, bassist Marc Sutherland and drummer Darren Macleod, who all hail from Caithness.
Since getting together they have played at venues across the north as well as at music festivals including Belladrum.
The talented trio have also been working on building up a set of songs, aiming for their first album.
Peter said: “You don’t want to commit to something as big as an album too early. You only get one chance to release your debut album.”
He added: “The album has given us purpose at a time when it’s very much needed,”
Loyal to No-one, Local To Nowhere was recorded in a private studio in Caithness with the band’s long-time producer James Reid.
Peter said: “We are immensely proud of what we have achieved with this album. This collection of songs is the culmination of over three years hard work. It is completely independent. No managers. No PR. No secret conglomerate of bankers funding our operations.”
