Fires at Dornoch Cathedral were started deliberately, police say

Two fires inside the grounds of Dornoch Cathedral were started deliberately, police in Sutherland said.

Officers are appealing for information after damage was caused near the cathedral, which is marking its 800th year in 2024.

The fires happened overnight between 11pm on Wednesday, July 17 and 8.30am on Thursday, July 18.

In a statement, Police Scotland said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time or who may have any information. Please contact us via 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you can help.”
