A coastguard helicopter was scrambled to assist a ferry passenger in need of emergency treatment yesterday at Ullapool ferry terminal.

An ambulance first came to the patient’s assistance at the harbour after the individual disembarked from the ferry.

The Stornoway Coastguard chopper then airlifted the person to hospital in the Western Isles.

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “We received a call to attend an incident at Ullapool Harbour.

“An ambulance was dispatched to the scene and one patient was transported via air to the Western Isles Hospital, Stornoway.”

There are no details on the person’s condition.
