Staff stay home after Dounreay Covid scare
After positive Covid test results were reported within Dounreay's fire and rescue service, many of the staff still working at the site were told not to come in today.
A spokesperson for the site said that Dounreay is operating "in full compliance" with Scottish Government regulations.
The spokesperson continued: "Our on-site fire and rescue service is reporting a number of Covid-19 related absences. The majority of staff are already working from home, but we have taken the decision to temporarily pause hazard reduction work and further reduce the volume of people on site to minimise the demand on the site's fire and rescue service.
"This will ensure we continue to meet our core obligations of maintaining a safe and secure site at all times. We are in contact with Health Protection Scotland and are providing support to the individuals affected.”
The majority of staff are working from home but, where work to comply with safety, security and environmental protection requirements cannot be done from home, this is being carried out with the minimum number of people required within Covid secure arrangements.
