Dornoch food and drink markets set to ‘come to life’ this weekend with special launch event
The first of a new series of monthly food and drink markets will be held in Dornoch this weekend, with a special launch event planned for Saturday.
Run by the Dornoch Area CIC (DACIC), the markets will be hosted on the last Saturday of each month from 11am to 2pm at the Dornoch South Coach and Car Park on Shore Road.

The DACIC team has been working hard behind the scenes to assemble an “exciting” line-up of 12 stallholders for its launch event, with several more already lined up for future markets as the season progresses.
The range of products on offer is set to include fresh meat, charcuterie, cheese, sweet and savoury baked goods, patisserie, local honey, fudge, ice cream, coffee, and even treats for your pets.
DACIC will also have a stall where they will be showcasing its community transport service and the town’s increasingly popular MUGA (multi-use games area).
A pickleball tournament will be underway during the market, offering visitors the chance to see the fast-growing sport in action.
Taking place after the market, from 2pm, free kids’ tennis coaching sessions will be running at the MUGA offering up a great opportunity for young ones to get active and give tennis a try.
DACIC will also be bringing in a variety of takeaway food providers throughout the season, recently confirming that Miele’s Gelateria from Inverness will be joining them for the majority of the dates.
Glen McGill, Vice Chair of DACIC, said: “What we really need now is footfall. We need locals and visitors to the town to show their support by turning up on Saturday and hopefully finding themselves unable to resist purchasing some of this top-quality produce we’ve assembled.
“These markets will only succeed and continue throughout the year if they are viable for the stallholders attending. So many people have asked us to deliver a food market in the town and to provide such events at the weekend when families are more easily able to attend.
“We’ve tried to answer those calls and hope the events will quickly become as popular as the established Wednesday markets on Cathedral Green.”
Luke Watson, Chair of DACIC, added: “A lot of work has gone into setting up these events, and we’re excited to see them finally come to life.
“We hope these monthly markets will grow over time, offering people more opportunities to sample fantastic local products and support small producers.”
