Dornoch café team set for 10K run to support far north Women’s Aid charity
Staff from a Dornoch café will be putting on their running shoes this weekend to raise money for Caithness and Sutherland Women’s Aid.
The team from Milk and Honey are taking part in a 10K event in Inverness on Sunday as part of the annual Baxters Loch Ness Marathon and Festival of Running.
CASWA is the local Women’s Aid group specialised in supporting women, children and young people to stay safe from domestic abuse.
Emma Fraser, the charity’s deputy manager, said: “Having an entire team running a 10K and fundraising on CASWA’s behalf is an amazing gesture. The Milk and Honey team, as well as serving up delicious food and drinks, have been training hard for Sunday.
“Fundraising and donations are extremely important to the day-to-day running of our charity and go a long way to support our work. Not only this, support from a popular local café plays a significant role in helping us to raise awareness of CASWA.
“The team at Milk and Honey and the cafe’s promotion of CASWA through this fundraiser will go a long way in helping us to increase our reach across our local area. This is invaluable.”
A JustGiving page has been set up for online donations and it has raised more than £530 so far.
Elisha Cameron, from Milk and Honey, said: “As a team we were keen to take part in this event in aid of a local charity and picked CASWA.”
CASWA will be marking its 20th anniversary next year.
