Dingwall Mart witnesses 'one of the best shows of store cattle' at sale in county town

DINGWALL and Highland Marts sold 831 store cattle, 99 adult head of breeding cattle and 129 OTM cattle yesterday.

Bullocks (528) averaged 242.9p and sold to 300.0p per kg for a 270kg Limousin cross from Shewglie, Glenurquhart and £1,340 gross for a 640kg Simmental from 17 Englishtonmuir, Bunchrew.

Heifers (288) averaged 232.7p and sold to 286.8p per kg for a 265kg British Blue cross from Shewglie, Glenurquhart and £1,380 gross for a 650kg Simmental cross from Clury Farm, Dulnain Bridge.

Young Bulls (15) sold to 253.5p per kg for a 355kg Charolais cross from Kindeace, Alness and £1,050 gross for a 420kg Limousin cross from Braelangwell, Balblair.

In calf cows (87) sold to £1,640 gross twice for Simmental cross cows from the dispersal of the Easter Urray Farm, Muir of Ord herd.

In calf heifers (12) sold to £1,700 gross for a Beef Shorthorn cross from the dispersal of the Easter Urray Farm, Muir of Ord herd.

The auctioneer's appraisal: “One of the best shows of store cattle was witnessed today in Dingwall. Quality from start to finish. Credit must go to the vendors for putting such a great show forward releasing a trade to watch.”
