DINGWALL and Highland Marts Ltd sold 863 sheep and 13 cattle at its latest sale.
Prime bullocks (4) averaged 278.5p per kg (-1.5p) and sold to 287.0p per kg for a 595kg Charolais cross from Groam Farm, Kirkhill and £1,950.25 gross for a 725kg Aberdeen Angus cross from Easter Sheeppark, Balblair.
Prime heifers (9) averaged 281.0p per kg (+2.4p) and sold to 287.0p per kg for a 595kg Charolais cross from Groam Farm, Kirkhill selling to Messrs John M Munro Ltd, Dingwall and £1,824.00 gross for a 640kg British Blue cross from Bridgend Farm, Dingwall.

Old Season Lambs (678) averaged 220.8p (+2.6p) and sold to 256.0p per kg for a pen of 44.5kg Beltex crosses from Badrain Farm, Culbokie and £128 gross for a 54kg Beltex from 25 Camultmuir, Kiltarlity.
SQQ Lambs 25.5kg to 45.5kg (340) averaged 222.6p (+4.0p).
Feeding Sheep (185) sold to £172 gross for a Texel ewe from Burnside, Huna.
The verdict: “Prime sheep cashed in at slightly increased rates on the week. Well-fleshed handy weights were keenly sought after whilst the heavies met more resistance. Ewes, like the hoggs, were also dearer for a show that was severely lacking in weight.”
