Costings awaited for Telford Bridge floodlighting project in Helmsdale

A proposal to floodlight the historic Telford Bridge in Helmsdale is still on the table after first being discussed in July last year.

Councillor Richard Gale, East Sutherland and Edderton, told members of Helmsdale Community Council at their meeting last week that he had been in contact with the local authority about the initiative.

He said he had been told that the existing floodlighting on the structure was “knackered” and that while one arch of the bridge was accessible, scaffolding would be needed to install lighting on the other arch.

Cllr Gale said the authority would carry out the work ‘at cost’ and he was waiting to hear about the cost of scaffolding.
