Psychiatric reports called for on church goer who admits sexually assaulting young boy
A PSYCHIATRIC report has been called for on a man who fondled a young boy whose family he got to know through attending the same church.
Sheriff David Sutherland at an earlier hearing of the case was told the matter came to light when the child’s parents noticed their son’s behaviour had changed.
Zbigniew Komorowski was back at Inverness Sheriff Court today to be sentenced by Sheriff Sutherland.
Criminal justice reports had been called for on August 30 on the 44 year old man.
But having read the report Sheriff Sutherland decided to defer sentence again until November 15 for a mental health report, telling defence lawyer Willie Young: “It is a matter of public safety as well of benefit to your client.”
In August, Komorowski,of Polvanie View, Inverness, pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting the boy on one occasion between January 1, 2014, and June 30, 2015, by touching him on the genital area on top of his clothing.
Fiscal depute Ross Carvel told Sheriff Sutherland that Komorowski became friendly with the parents of the child as they were members of the same church.
“They assisted him getting a job in a hotel and often had him round to their house for dinner. They became concerned about the behaviour of Komorowski when their son’s behaviour changed. He had nightmares and on one occasion he took his mother’s hand and put it on his crotch area.
“There was a confrontation with Komorowski who spoke with a number of elders at the church. He admitted the offence. Then the father told the police after Komorowski was expelled.
“At the police interview, he said he knew what he had done was wrong but he did not know why he did it.”.
Komorowski was immediately placed on the Sex Offender’s register.
