Church charity shop at Dornoch distributes £29k to local charities after bumper year

The charitity shop run by St Finnbarr’s Scottish Episcopal Church in Dornoch has had a bumper year.

So much so that it was able to distribute a staggering £29,000 to 29 local charities. The amount disbursed is £5,000 more than last year.

The popular shop has raised more than £200,000 since it was founded 40 years ago. In February or March each year, the money raised is divided equally between the church and local charities.

The priest in charge at St Finnbarr’s, Father Simon Scott, said he and members of his congregation would like to express their “heartfelt thanks to all the brilliant volunteers who helped out in the shop, and to the customers”.

He added: “If you would like to volunteer at the shop, please do get in touch. It makes a huge difference to the lives of so many people in our area.

“It’s a great way to get to know people and to have fun too.”
