Cattle shown ‘in decent bloom’ at Caithness auction mart
Quoybrae, Aberdeen and Northern Marts on Monday sold 670 store cattle.
Bullocks (357) averaged 295.6p (+6.8p on the year) to 341.0p for a pen of 437kg Charolais crosses from Aimster, Thurso and £2000 gross for a 732kg Charolais Cross from Brae Edge, Castletown.
Heifers (279) averaged 282p (-4.4 on the year) to 313.4p and to £1830 gross for a 685kg Limousin cross from Lhaid Croft.
Aberdeen Angus and Native Bred Bullocks (23) averaged 287.9p (+1.2p on the year) to 303.3p for pen of three 521kg and to £1900 gross for a pen of three 651kg from 5 Lochend, Castletown.
Aberdeen Angus and Native Bred Heifers (11) averaged 278.9p (+12p on the year) and sold to 291p for a pair of 488kg and £1650 for a pair of 586kg from 5 Lochend, Castletown.
