THE case against a Sutherland carer accused of mistreating a patient has been dropped.

Margaret Calder, Bonar Bridge, was charged with ill treating or wilfully neglecting a patient at Beachview Lodge Respite Care Unit in Brora between August 1 and August 31, 2013.

The 55-year-old denied the charge and was due to go on trial but proceedings against her were delayed because of her ill-health.

The case was called again at Tain Sheriff Court when the Crown announced it was dropping proceedings.
