North Coast Campus artwork project reaches fruition
A CREATIVE project to install bespoke artwork at each school that forms the North Coast Campus has finally reached fruition.
The North Coast Campus Creative Project was initiated in 2019 with the aim of creating a visual link between Farr High School and its umbrella primaries at Tongue, Melvich and Farr.
Local glass artist Michael Bullen, who worked with the schools during the first lockdown, was the creative brain behind the scheme while art teacher Tracy Wilkinson coordinated it.
Funding was sourced from the Caithness North Sutherland Fund (CNSF) and SSE Renewables. A generous donation of glass came from Lani McGregor, director of Bullseye Projects, part of the Bullseye Glass Company.
Farr High School Parent Council also gave the project huge support.
A spokesman said: “Pupils from each campus school searched local beaches for driftwood and made line drawings of images that they felt portrayed their individual schools and the campus community as a whole.
“Drawing workshops were held in each of the primary schools and family members and friends were also invited to take part in creating the drawings that are featured on pieces of glass inside the framework of the signposts.
“Despite Covid restrictions, everyone collaborated in some way to help make the creative signposts a feature for each of our schools. A big thank-you goes to everyone involved with special thanks to Michael Bullen, Lani McGregor, the parent council and funders."
