Stornoway to Ullapool CalMac ferry ‘liable to cancellation due to strong winds’

CalMac has announced that multiple ferry services scheduled for today and tomorrow are liable to cancellation at short notice, due to “strong north easterly winds and high sea swell”.

The ferry service operator issued an amber warning for multiple scheduled ferries on October 8 and 9, due to forecast south/south westerly winds in excess of 51mph.

CalMac also stated on Twitter/X that: “Due to forecast strong north easterly winds and high sea swell, all [October 8 and 9] sailings will be liable to disruption or cancellation at short notice.”

Sailings liable to disruption or cancellation at short notice, according to the ferry operator’s social media, on October 8 and 9 are:

• October 8, 5.30pm — Ullapool to Stornoway

• October 8, 10.10pm — Freight sailing from Stornoway to Ullapool

• October 9, 2.50am — Freight sailing from Ullapool to Stornoway

• October 9, 10.10pm — Freight sailing from Stornoway to Ullapool
