Blue letter day for pair after 65 years
JOEY and John Duncan, of Brora, celebrated their sapphire wedding anniversary and marked 65 years with a small family gathering in the Cambusavie Unit in Golspie, where Joey is being cared for by the staff.
They kindly agreed the family could use the relatives' room for the occasion.
Joey and John first started courting in 1947. John used to pass Joey brushing the front of Cairn's Tailor Shop on his way to his work as a slater with George Grant.
They married at Inverness Registry Office, with Edith and Billy Ross as witnesses. They enjoyed a meal together at the Palace Hotel in Inverness.
They have three children – John, Aleta and Cynthia; five grandchildren – George, Robert, Eilidh, Mhairi and Alix and five great-grandchildren – Nana, Lewis, Jake, Riley and Daisy.
Amongst the many gifts received were a bouquet of flowers from the Lord Lieutenant of Sutherland, Monica Main, and a card from Queen Elizabeth.
They thanked everyone for gifts, cards and best wishes.
