Assynt Crofters' Trust lodges complaints with charity regulator and environmental body over Quinag out of season deer cull
A dispute over an out of season deer cull in Assynt is intensifying.
Wildland conservation charity the John Muir Trust has been given permission by NatureScot to cull deer out of season and at night on its Quinag Estate.
The move is bitterly opposed by neighbouring landowners, chief among whom are Assynt Crofters' Trust.
And the Scottish Gamekeepers Association is backing a call for the licence to be suspended.
Now the trust has revealed it has lodged two complaints against both JMT and NatureScot in relation to the authorisation.

The trust said in a statement issued today: “Assnyt Crofters Trust has made a complaint to the Environmental Standards Authority and OSCR (Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator) about the recent actions by NatureScot and JMT in Assynt."
The crofters have also made a Freedom of Information (FOI) to NatureScot concerning the granting of the out of season licence.
