Advance warning of possible delays on the A9 from next Monday
Motorists on the A9 are being warned in advance that there will be traffic restrictions on the southern section between Birnam and Glen Garry, from next Monday, as work is carried out for the A9 dualling programme.
The restrictions are necessary to enable critical ground investigations to be carried out on single carriageway sections of the existing A9 as the dualling proposals are progressed.
The detailed ground investigation works are to be carried out for around four months on a number of locations on the southern section between Birnam and Glen Garry.
The traffic management arrangements will include short alternate single file traffic sections controlled by temporary traffic signals. This traffic management will be moved along the route as the work progresses.
Transport Scotland apologises for any inconvenience caused by the works and thanks road users and local communities for their patience.
The contractor will closely monitor the operation of its traffic management to ensure that delays are kept to a minimum and that any incidents on site are quickly dealt with.
Ground investigation work is also currently taking place on the A9 between Dalnaspidal and Kincraig and is expected to be completed around the end of October.
