PORTEOUS Sallie (Tyszko). It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sallie. After recent years living with cancer, she died on 27th March, 2025, with her loving husband John by her side. A true original, we are filled with gratitude for her incredible storied life. Sallie had a lifelong passion for animals for which she was a devoted keeper, rescuer and advocate. A talented tapestry artist and a beloved friend to many, she will be deeply missed. A celebration of Sallie's life will be held on 10th April, in Great Bernera Community Centre, at 2pm. To honour her joyful love of colour, we invite all who wish to attend to wear colourful casual attire. Please join us for refreshments and food afterwards. Accommodation can be provided for those travelling from the mainland. In lieu of flowers we invite people to make a donation to Macmillan Cancer Support.
